Christina Aguilera tattoo

I got my first tattoo when I was eighteen, fresh out of basic training. It said Recon and Scout down my forearms. I went to a tattoo shop that was also someone's house. It was under a bridge, and I was in Kentucky. If you were cringing when you read that then you are having what is known as an "intelligent response".

Needless to say, I had to get it redone. My next tattoo was in my home town of Bonney Lake, Washington. In a professional shop, from a guy who been tattooing for fifteen years and had ten books FULL of his work. I finished out my sleeve and other half sleeve in Killeen, Texas. I talked with my friends and co-workers and got the opinions of people who had gotten tattoos around the area and found out which shop had the best track record. I went there and found the artist I wanted to work with and had him draw me a picture of what I had an idea of.

You see how gradually I got more and more in depth with the process of getting the tattoo? Most everyone learns things the hard way when it comes to tattoos. I want to give you the inside scoop on what you need to look for and ask for when you get a tattoo. It really comes down to following three steps.

1. Do your research: Find the best shop in your area. Go around to the shops and look at the portfolio's the artist have. If they don't have one, don't work with them. Find people that have gone to various shops and ask them about their experience. Don't go anywhere that is also someone's house or has a generally dirty look.

2.Get a drawing: Once you find the artist you want to work with, get them to draw you what you want. If they try and charge you, leave. That is an absolute rip-off and anywhere that does that is shady, period. If you like the drawing then move to the next step.

3. Don't get ripped off: Any tattoo that is done in black and gray should cost no more than $100 an hour. Ask them how much they would do it for, then ask them how long it will take. Simple math after that. If you are getting color, it should be around 175 an hour. If everything is kosher and you like the drawing get the tattoo. Always remember to tip your artist, the minimum is 20%

That's it! I hope I have enlightened and helped you on your quest to get a tattoo.

Anyone who had tattoos was generally regarded as being on the fringes of society. However, all that started to change in the 1960s when prominent stars such as Janis Joplin started the trend for celebrity tattoos. Over time they have become more socially acceptable.

Today, celebrity tattoos have gone mainstream and the culture of celebrity tattoos covers acting, sport, music, models and people who are famous for being famous. Just look at some of the celebrities who are known to have tattoos; 50 Cent, Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, David Beckman, Kelly Clarkson, Johnny Depp, Vin Diesel, Eminem, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Natalie Imbruglia, Angelina Jolie, Anna Kournikova, Lindsay Lohan, Nelly, Kelly Osbourne, Pink, Nicole Richie, Wesley Snipes, Britney Spears, Usher, Holly Valance and Elijah Wood, And there may be many more that could be added to that list who have tattoos hidden in more intimate places.

At present, Angelina Jolie is probably the most famous tattooed celebrity in Hollywood. Her designs include tribal dragons, a tiger and various pieces of foreign writing on her shoulders and arms. And a recent poll that voted her the sexiest woman in the world is further evidence that celebrity tattoos are now widely accepted.

And despite the potential for problems with their work other leading actors also display a wide range of tattoo designs.

In fact Johnny Depp is so heavily tattooed that he routinely has to have his skin painted to cover up his body art before he films certain scenes. However, some of his tattoos remain uncovered during filming and are incorporated into the character he is playing. This is another stong indication that celebrity tattoos are well and truly part of mainstream culture.

Avoiding the Top Tattoo Mistakes

Spend the time now learning about what you need to know and what you need to look out for so you can ensure a fantastic new tattoo. But more importantly make sure you don’t need to go through the pain or expense of getting your new tattoo removed if it does not turn out right.

We all want to get the best tattoo that we can possibly get, one that means something to us and displays to the world our special connection to a person or significant event in our lives. Given that the reasons for getting a tattoo are often very profound we need to make sure we take the steps to ensure that our tattoo turns out just right.

Part of this process is learning what to do and another part is finding our what to avoid and this is what we are going to cover in this article on Avoiding the Top 3 Tattoo Mistakes. The top 3 tattoo mistakes are Being Impulsive, Getting a Cheap Tattoo and an Ode to a Lover.

Mistake No. 1: Being Impulsive

Tattoo’s done as a spur of the moment kind of thing are one of the top type of tattoo’s that end up getting removed. You probably would regret getting a tat of Taz flipping the bird and drinking a beer sometime after getting it.

If you are reading articles like this on the net you no doubt want to have your new tattoo for a long time to come if not the rest of your life. And never want to have to look into the pain and expense of getting your tattoo removed.

So take your time, go through the process, do the footwork and you will end up with a tattoo that you will not only love now, you will continue to love it and be grateful you went ahead and got it for many a year to come.

At the end of the day if you do end up with something that you later regret you can always get it covered over with another tattoo so there is a solution to the problem if it happens to you. But you want to get it right the first time round, so take the time and have some fun.

Mistake No. 2: Cheap Tattoo’s

As Kat Von D from the hit TV show LA Ink says:

"Good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good. Far too many times, people choose an artist based on price. That should be the last priority on your list when it comes to getting a tattoo."

When it comes to tattoo’s the old adage "you get what you pay for" still holds true, so when you are out there looking for the right tattoo artist to apply your new tattoo there are many other things to take into account other than price.

And the another thing to consider is that this tattoo is something you are going to have on your body for a great many years to come if not all of your years, so you want a piece of ink that is good quality and a tattoo that you are proud of.

So when you are out there looking for that artist make sure you ask around in order to get an idea of how much you are going to be up for, for the style and size of tattoo you are after but don’t let an expensive quote from an artist put you off.

Realize that if you want an intricately detailed sizeable tattoo that it is going to cost you some cash and that it will probably take a few sittings with the artist.

Mistake No. 3: Ode to a lover.

No matter how much you are in love with your current partner it pays not to be overly romantic. At the end of the day it does not matter how much you love this person the statistic tell the story. And the story says that just about every tattoo out there is going to outlast most of the relationships that inspired them – as much as we hate to say it.

There are so many other designs out there that can be used to represent something that is as important and significant, if not more so, than your current relationship.

I hope this has not crushed your ideas and plans for your new tattoo. If it has let me give you a little tip to get you back on the road:

- See if there is something else that sticks in your head and won’t go away.

Generally it is an idea that has been around in your head for a while but might have been hiding in the back so to speak. Good tattoo inspiration usually comes from something you feel pretty passionate about and you will be happy with it in the long run.

Good art (and permanent art!) is always worth a wait, so don’t rush your decision, wait a while see if you can remember what events have happened that have left a lasting impression in your mind.

No doubt you have got the impression so far that finding and getting your dream tattoo done is a process that takes some amount of time.

Historically woman received their tattoos much as males did, through rights of passage or marks of status or even social position, many examples have been found of ancient women with tribal tattoos - as far back as 2000BC!

In the early days of the modern tattoo renaissance, women were severely frowned upon for having them -and rather unfairly too! Deemed as rebellious and also as a sign of promiscuity it took many years before female tattoos were accepted into the main, and today we do not think twice about seeing a woman with a tattoo, however there are still some prejudices - image a women with a full sleeve, neck tattoo or a full chest piece? I doubt it would have the same reaction if I asked you to imagine a man...

Even now our society accepts only smaller, more feminine designs and in a more 'appropriate' location.Lower back tattoos are generally seen as sensual and there is an air of sexuality that you would not likely find with male tattoos. The ankle being another popular choice, again this could be seen as a sensual area. Small designs by the naval, and on the bosom, hint at sexuality.

Women generally chose their tattoos for very different reasons than men, females are more influenced by their feminine nature and societies perception and tend not to get caught up in macho side of tattoo choice. I.e. huge shoulder pieces, full sleeves etc. This leads to smaller and more delicate designs often in more sensual locations

Christina Aguilera tattoos

Christina Aguilera tattoos

Since it is Wednesday it is time for another celebrity tattoo post. I will be honest I knew that Christina had two tattoos but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she has a total of five. This just goes to show that you can have tattoos and people not know about it. Also I think Christina tries really hard to cover her tats up. It’s been reported that she buys special make up to cover up her tattoos because Hollywood still sees tattoos as a no no if you have too many.

Anyways, Christina has “Xtina” tattooed on the back of her neck, small sort of very small flower on her wrist, an unknown design on you bikini line, a tattoo on her left forearm that reads “Te Amo Siempre” which is Spanish for “I love you always”. In the middle of the tattoo she’s got the two Hebrew letters “Y” and “B”, which are now hubby Jordan Bartman’s initials. She also has “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine” tattooed in Hebrew on the small of her back.

Christina says that her and Jordan decided to get tattoo for each other as wedding presents. Jordan got “I love CA forever” tattooed in Hebrew on him and she got “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine” on the small of her back. They decided to get inked to remember their special day of becoming husband and wife. I do think it is rather sweet that they got these tattoos, so I hope that they will stay together forever and do not regret getting those tats that they have.

Regretting Her Tattoo Designs

A tribal tattoo on her left wrist shows two waves in a circular pattern (some kind of Yin and Yang style) representing her love for surfing. Megan once revealed her tattooist was drunk the day she got that tattoo. She also admitted she never really liked the way it came out, but she hasn't got rid of it yet.

Her second tattoo represents her love to her boyfriend Brian Austin Green. They have actually broken up a few times during the last years, but they are still together and, according to the latest rumours, they currently are in couple's counselling.

A big Marilyn portrait is visible on her right forearm and a star with a crescent moon are tattooed on Megan's right ankle.

A romantic inscription covers her whole left side; it says: "There once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her heart". Isn't that sweet?

Another little black tattoo, a Chinese symbol of strength, is inked on the back of her neck.

But the most interesting among Megan Fox tattoos is a line from Shakespeare's masterpiece "King Lear" tattooed on her back; it says: "We will all laugh at the gilded butterflies".
The meaning of such an enigmatic sentence is probably the following: King Lear, King of Denmark, was betrayed by two of his daughters, who had always pretended to love him smiling like “gilded butterflies”. This sentence represents the illusion of love among relatives and how easily this love can be faked and manipulated.
The gilded smile on Megan Fox’ face, just like the one of every other celebrity, is just an illusion. It’s a way for Megan not to loose contact with the reality and a way to survive in that gilded world known as Hollywood.

Celebrity Tattoo Ashley Tisdale

Some believe that it says All that could be seen was Bel written in black ink on her back. However, Ashley was caught wearing a tank top not too long ago exposing a portion of her tattoo. Ashley hasn't come right out and admitted she has one or showed it off all the way.

Also no one is exactly sure her tattoo is of. It is not known when Ashley got her tattoo, but she was seen coming out of Shamrock Tattoos last Sunday. Well Disney star Ashley Tisdale is the latest Disney star to go out and get a tattoo. Tattoos are a form of self expression and people should stop looking at them as a bad thing.

Because tattoos have become so mainstream it's not uncommon for a goody goody if you will to have one or more tattoos. Tattoos have come a long way since the dawn of time. However, times have changed, it is 2009 after all. There has been a negative stereotype on tattoos since day one when sailors, bikers, and criminals were the only ones to have them.

People don't seem to understand that just because you are a good girl and don't party or do drugs doesn't mean you can't get a tattoo.
